HOKA Men's Speedgoat 5

I had high hopes for my new Hokas from everything I'd heard and for the first 10 days or so it was justified. They were so comfortable I wore them all the time when suddenly the left shoe started pinching the top of my left foot. I tried several cures. I removed the insert, I changed socks, I tried every lacing arrangement imaginable and while some of these things helped nothing got rid of it. Here's the mystery: once in awhile I can lace them so the pinch is so light it's acceptable but the next time I wear them that lacing trick doesn't work. I have to lace them differently constantly and sometimes experiment with several different strategies in one day. I wanted so badly to love the Speedgoat 5 but I won't be purchasing another pair after these.
